Methods for Comparing and Classifying Tunes

چکیده
Declaration I hereby declare that this project is entirely my own work and that it has not been submitted as an exercise for a degree at this or any other university I agree that the Library and other agents of the College may lend or copy this thesis upon request. Abstract This project is about classifying (traditional Irish) melodies and comparing them to other melodies so that some indication of similarity between songs can be found. The method used provides a system that is independent of key, tempo-independent, allows for minor variations or mistakes, and can work for different instruments. The current applications for song recognition are reviewed and analysed. Methods of implementing this project are discussed and papers on pitch detection, song recognition and transcription are described. A program was developed to transcribe songs to musical notation and this was tested with traditional Irish songs. The program's performance was analysed, and a method was outlined for finding similarities between songs. This could not be implemented however due to inaccuracies in the transcription, but methods for further developing the program are described and future applications are described.

Comparing pixel-based and object-based algorithms for classifying land use of arid basins (Case study: Mokhtaran Basin, Iran)
In this research, two techniques of pixel-based and object-based image analysis were investigated and compared for providing land use map in arid basin of Mokhtaran, Birjand. Using Landsat satellite imagery in 2015, the classification of land use was performed with three object-based algorithms of supervised fuzzy-maximum likelihood, maximum likelihood, and K-nearest neighbor. Nine combinations...

Raaga is the spine of Indian classical music. It is the single most crucial element of the melodic framework on which the music of the subcontinent thrives. Naturally, automatic raaga recognition is an important step in computational musicology as far as Indian music is considered. It has several applications like indexing Indian music, automatic note transcription, comparing, classifying and r...
متن کاملTwo New Methods of Boundary Correction for Classifying Textural Images
With the growth of technology, supervising systems are increasingly replacing humans in military, transportation, medical, spatial, and other industries. Among these systems are machine vision systems which are based on image processing and analysis. One of the important tasks of image processing is classification of images into desirable categories for the identification of objects or their sp...

In this study, mass, stiffness and damping matrices of the Nosrat jacket; located in Persian Gulf; equipped with Semi Active Tuned Mass Damper (SATMD) system have been derived after modeling the structure in SACS software. Owing to huge number of the degrees of freedom in the model, computation of on-line control of SATMD was time consuming. For this purpose, the size of the model was reduced i...
متن کاملI-19: The Future of Medical Education: from The Classroom to i-tunes
Medical training has been lately the subject of intense scrutiny. The knowledge transfer approach has shifted focus on the trainee as an active participant in the education process. The traditional view that learning stems from the transmission of knowledge, has recently been challenged. Although controversial, some suggest that a student can maximize this learning process when educators tailor...
